Ripples of Chocolate (2)

(More poetry from LeiLani)

Reckoning

Transparent tears roll down the petal,
A glitter of dew over a perfect rose.
The azure sky glistens from his misty eyes,
And whispered perplexity wafts on the winds.
Dust falls, sifted through the fingers of a man,
A mighty soul encapsulated in limited flesh,
Broken and wounded beyond mortality.
Hushed are the sounds of anger;
The hand that strikes lifts no more.
And yet his soul yearns for love withheld,
For redemption beyond hope,
Absolution for sins never committed.
Relief is tempered by a loss he does not understand;
And the earth embraces the incorrigible father,
While the son is left to tears,
Alone and unconsoled.

Warrior's Lullabye

My wings bear you up
Carried o'er the battle sore
Hold you safe in my heart
'Til the morrow breaks ashore
In the cradle of my love
May your rest be sweet
And your peace restored
When the night's complete.

All the sleeping maidens left
On the shores of paradise
As the sword and trumpet steal
Light of life from all their eyes
But fair warrior and king
Grief is never borne alone
For the heart of all the world
Rests with thee upon the throne.

Hidden Horizons

The hallowed halls are fallen,
The holy places gray;
The sword and plowshares silenced,
No prayers to greet the day.
But souls still whisper promise
That life will come again;
Time's the only mystery --
The question only, when.
