Soliloquy To The Night

Perhaps I am a child of the stars -
Fallen to the Earth and destined
Always to strive for things beyond my reach;
Or perhaps there will come a day
When this body falls by the wayside
And my spirit rises in silent homage to the universe.
Perhaps it is not until that day
I will know true peace and contentment.

For now...
I will use whatever means I can to paint my skyscape,
Letting my dreams wander to other worlds,
To meander through the galaxies,
Perchance to touch the heart of God
And gain a flicker of His mercy.

Or perhaps I am doomed forever
To do no more than gaze in yearning,
Never to see the sun rising on another world,
Never to walk the streets of the heavens.

If that is true,
Then let me ever live in dreams of incandescent glitter,
Pinpoints of subconscious beauty
In the velvet of the night.

A June-y Winter

Crystal feathers, encasing a world of white
Beauty tempered by absolute silence;
Perfection frozen in a single moment,
Never to change again.
In exchange for the glitter,
For treasure unmatched by any other kingdom,
The Queen of Hearts lays claim
To my soul.

So I lie in unmoving repose
A willing supplicant to the regency of love;
Captured by an early frost,
Heart frozen in mid-beat,
Breath a translucent cloud before me.
My smile, too, unchanging
With the knowledge that this destiny
Is all there is.
